"Emotion Sickness" was the first song the band made a video for that had a cinematic narrative to match the song's emotion. Previous efforts featured very typical '90s "music video" style and themes. While the band had eschewed pantomiming a performance with their instruments a few videos ago this was an even further departure.
Also for the first time the band had released a video in Widescreen 1.85:1 format. Although, for home release it is limited to a 4:3 DVD that is Letterboxed into a 1.85:1 image as opposed to a proper Anamorphic presentation for modern 16x9 (1.78:1) displays. It also has Dolby Digital 2.0 for the audio at 256 kbps. The silverchairofficial video version on YouTube/Vevo is in the proper Aspect Ratio of 1.85:1. Personally, I consider the DVD superior to the online version. The video is better and the sound, despite being only 256 kbps, is better than online.
What we need is an official Blu-Ray with all the videos remastered for HD and with at least uncompressed PCM 2.0 and/or a new 5.1 remix. Take our money Sony!!!
An interesting note is that the Director is not credited anywhere on the YouTube site. There are song writing and publishing credits but none for the Director, Cate Anderson!
